I can say flat-out that I will close every account on every site I have that complies with the the proposed "Protecting Kids on Social Media" act for the US-or any similar proposal. I will NOT comply, with NOT upload an ID to anyone.
If US and UK Mastodon instances are forced to shut down, I will migrate to another server not hosted in either country. If Mastodon collapses, I will consider self-hosting by creating a .onion darknet site accessable only via Tor and passing links to those who need them.
Without exception, I will not post into or read from any ID verified space, no exceptions.
My advice to US based Mastodon servers if this goes through: block direct connections from the US, require all users to go through Tor or a non-US VPN.

@ekeshkekesh this is actually more German railway line than Polish. It goes from Görlitz to Zittau and crosses the border several times. Of course, it's older than the border.
During East Germany times this border was really heavily guarded. But one station, serving German town of Ostritz, was on the Polish side of the river. How to solve this conundrum? The passengers were allowed to leave the train on the Polish side, in Krzewina, and were escorted by armed border guards over the bridge to Germany. As far as I know, it wasn't allowed to enter the station from Polish side.
According to Wikipedia, the train had to have window blinds shut during the travel through Poland.

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe potwierdziły, że w nocy z piątku na sobotę w województwie zachodniopomorskim odnotowano nieuprawnione nadawanie sygnału radio-stop, uruchamiającego alarmowe zatrzymanie pociągów. Występowały opóźnienia w kursowaniu pociągów. W sprawie głos zabrał minister infrastruktury Andrzej Adamczyk. - System zarządzania ruchem kolejowym jest systemem wewnętrznym, zamkniętym - powiedział. Zastępca ministra koordynatora służb specjalnych Stanisław Żaryn zapewnił, że czynności wyjaśniające prowadzi ABW. - Sprawa musi być zbadana - podkreślił.
