It's time for the best meteor shower of the year: the Geminids. This dependable shower can deliver upwards of 120 meteors per hour in perfect conditions. Unfortunately, this year isn't perfect conditions. The peak of the meteor shower, around December 14th, lines up with the full Moon, which will wash away the faintest meteor trails. But all hope isn't lost. Here's our guide to catching as many meteors as you can.

We really need to stop buying into the argument that #ClimateActivists are "radical" or "destructive". The opposite is true: the nature of the protests have been peaceful and, on the whole, pretty tame.

The idea that, say, sitting on a road is "radical", "extreme" and "criminal" came from a bunch of #FossilFuel aligned think tanks, parroted by the media.
Reject them.

The framing needs to be: Fossil fuel companies are radical, extreme, criminal.

"#Climate and #EnvironmentalJustice groups report a significant increase in draconian, and often arbitrary, charges for peaceful protesters as part of a playbook of tactics to vilify, discredit, intimidate and silence activists.

The Guardian has also found striking similarities in the way governments from Canada and the US to Guatemala and Chile, from India and Tanzania to the UK, Europe and Australia, are cracking down on activists trying to protect the planet."

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/oct/12/how-criminalisation-is-being-used-to-silence-climate-activists-across-the-world
"Lane-Rose has become a prominent young climate activist, and the university student, now 19, faces a charge of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. She's also been slapped with a violence restraining order, had her home raided and possessions seized and been banned from associating with fellow campaigners."

"The documents from the North Dakota security board paint a detailed picture of counterinsurgency-style strategies for defeating opponents of #OilAndGas development, a war-on-terror security firm’s aspirations to replicate its deceptive tactics far beyond the Northern Great Plains, and the cozy relationship between businesses linked to the #FossilFuel industry and one of the largest law enforcement trade associations in the #US"

To keep the #FossilFuel industry safe, #TigerSwan used #counterinsurgency tactics including:
drones,
social media monitoring,
HUMINT (spying)
liaising with law enforcement officials and agencies
local community engagement,
counter-protesters,
building a “pipeline narrative,” and partnering with university oil and gas programs.

"#NorthCarolina passed the most draconian of the year. It classifies #trespassing on an energy facility as a# felony punishable with up to two years in prison and attempting to “obstruct, impede, or impair the services of transmissions of an energy facility" as felonies that carry up to 19 years in prison and $250,000 in fines. An acquittal, but:

"The Treasury claimed the cost of the damage was nearly £20,000 and the defendants faced up to ten years in jail each if they had been found guilty."

A bit much for spraying fake blood (washable dye) over the Treasury building.

The #UK is starting to feel like Russia in its suppression of free speech.

"Government officials have drawn up deeply controversial proposals to broaden the definition of #extremism to include anyone who “undermines” the country’s institutions and its values, according to documents seen by the Observer."

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/nov/04/plans-to-redefine-extremism-would-include-undermining-uk-values
Some good news:
French court annuls ban of #climate movement over ‘eco-terrorism’ claims

"Judges temporarily suspended the government’s disbanding order in August, arguing it restricted the activists’ freedom of assembly and that the interior ministry did not provide enough evidence to back up its claim that the climate movement was inciting violence.

Thursday’s ruling upholds this initial decision."

https://www.politico.eu/article/french-court-annuls-ban-of-climate-movement-over-eco-terrorism-claims/
When a disbanding order doesn't make sense:

"The activist group, created in 2021, counts more than 150,000 supporters and is made up of close to 200 local groupings. It has no clear leadership structure and isn’t officially registered as an association or nonprofit organization — making it difficult to disband."

Of course #LesSoulèvementsdelaTerre has staged other protests since August.

https://www.politico.eu/article/french-court-annuls-ban-of-climate-movement-over-eco-terrorism-claims/
"Long sentences handed to two #JustStopOil protesters for scaling the M25 bridge over the Thames are a potential breach of international law and risk silencing public concerns about the environment.

In a strongly worded intervention, Ian Fry, the UN’s rapporteur for #ClimateChange and #HumanRights, said he was “particularly concerned” about the sentences, which were “significantly more severe than previous sentences imposed for this type of offending in the past”."

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/nov/20/just-stop-oil-protesters-jail-terms-potentially-breach-international-law-un-expert-says
"After punitive sentences were handed down to #ClimateActivists, the UN’s rapporteur for climate change and human rights suggested in November that the sentences potentially breached international law.

Climate activists suffer coordinated attempts to portray them as dangerous extremists. Take the Atlas Network, an influential global grouping of rightwing thinktanks: it has helped lead campaigns across the world to demonise climate activists as dangerous extremists."

"UN special rapporteur on environmental defenders says he is seriously concerned about ‘regressive new laws’

Forst said that during a two-day visit to the #UK earlier this month he uncovered worrying information on the treatment of peaceful protesters.

At Inner London crown court, peaceful protesters have been forbidden by court order from mentioning the climate crisis, fuel poverty or even the US civil rights movement in their statements to the jury."

"A UN Special Rapporteur has raised concerns about increasingly draconian laws that restrict citizens’ rights to peaceful protest around Australia. "

Australia, heavily dependent on coal exports, can be thought of as a fossil fuel state.

"National Highways has injunctions covering 4,300 miles of motorways and major A roads. Anyone who breaches this injunction faces imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine. Any corporation can apply for a civil injunction, and individuals can be punished without a trial."

The contrast with the treatment of farmer protesters (and their tractors) can hardly be more stark.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/jan/23/five-examples-of-the-uks-crackdown-on-climate-protesters
Why the brutal crackdowns on #climate protesters?

"In many cases, laws are proposed or drafted by corporate-funded lobby groups masquerading as thinktanks, such as Policy Exchange in the UK and the American Legislative Exchange Council in the US. Such groups create legal templates for crushing protest movements, then press for their adoption all over the world. This tactic has been chillingly effective."

"Inequality demands oppression. The more concentrated wealth and power become, the more those who challenge the rich and powerful must be hounded and crushed. In other words, economic inequality is mirrored by inequality before the law. You can dispense with all the other indices of democracy. "The UN Special Rapporteur on Environmental Defenders under the #Aarhus Convention, Michel Forst, released a position paper on state repression of environmental protest and #CivilDisobedience: a major threat to human rights and democracy.

"The legal response to protest in the #UK has been transformed at an astonishing pace. Actions have been newly criminalised; locking on, walking slowly in the road. Crippling fines [are now in place] for, say, blocking certain roads or sitting down at oil terminals.

Existing crimes have been escalated, so that what once might have attracted a small fine, such as sitting down in a road, can now lead quickly to prison. Long custodial sentences are becoming normalised."

"The Supreme Court announced on Monday that it will not hear #Mckesson v. Doe, [leaving] in place a lower court decision that effectively eliminated the right to organize a mass protest in the states of #Louisiana, #Mississippi, and #Texas.

Under that lower court decision, a protest organizer faces potentially ruinous financial consequences if a single attendee at a mass protest commits an illegal act."

https://www.vox.com/scotus/24080080/supreme-court-mckesson-doe-first-amendment-protest-black-lives-matter
This ^^ case illustrates why intersectionality is so important, and why climate activists need to support all those who fight for equality and justice in all the spaces. Because the causes are all connected. In this case, a deeply racist court, in its attempt to crush a Black leader, has made protest impossible for anyone.

https://www.vox.com/scotus/2024/1/24/24042823/supreme-court-protest-mckesson-doe-fifth-circuit-first-amendment
This is chilling:

"Nearly 300 #AntiProtest bills introduced in state legislatures since 2017, 41 of which passed.

Many of those laws seemed like direct responses to specific protest campaigns.

New York’s bill, introduced by Democratic lawmakers, is perhaps the most extreme, declaring that blocking public roads, bridges or transportation facilities — or even “act[ing] with the intent” to do so — is a form of domestic terrorism."

https://inthesetimes.com/article/war-protest-standing-rock-cop-city-repression-criminalize-dissent-political-rights-first-amendment
"The language of extremism came to permeate the federal government’s characterization of the anti-pipeline movement and has dogged subsequent social justice campaigns.

North Dakota introduced and later passed two laws expanding the definition of criminal trespass and dramatically heightening penalties for so-called riot offenses — an unmistakable response to what had unfolded at Standing Rock.

A Standing Rock-style protest in North Dakota, or many other states, is virtually impossible today."
This article contains the litany of crackdowns on activists of
– Stop Cop City, Atlanta GA:
– Keystone XL;
– Dakota Access pipeline;
– the Women's March, January 2017;
– Black Lives Matter;
– Palestine;
And connects the next dot:

“The movement opposing U.S. policy toward Israel is attracting “hundreds of thousands” of new supporters, says Fox, but that’s also coming at “a time where the Right is really experimenting and trying to build new tactics and legislative tools of repression.”
This sets the stage for the next phase of repression,” he says.

And what that phase brings will be shaped by what happens this November. Whatever the outcome of the election, mass protest is almost guaranteed."

https://inthesetimes.com/article/war-protest-standing-rock-cop-city-repression-criminalize-dissent-political-rights-first-amendment

Read this article to see the crackdowns on seemingly disparate protests to see the big picture.
"These core elements – grievances, demands, disruption, confrontation and spectacle – are present in nearly all protests.

[But] time and again, #coverage tends to headline the parts of the protest that are sensational and #disruptive.

And this neglects the political substance of the protests."

https://theconversation.com/media-coverage-of-campus-protests-tends-to-focus-on-the-spectacle-rather-than-the-substance-229172

This kind of coverage also plays into the false narrative that protesters are "radicals" or even "terrorists".
It enables that framing.
"The recent history of environmental activism in the U.S. shows that the repressive policies being advanced now will have repercussions far beyond a single social movement — and that they’re likely to hit climate and land defenders particularly hard.

Now, just as happened after the [#BLM and #DAPL] protests, bills are being considered in six states to enhance penalties for blocking roads, with most of them explicitly framed as a response to pro-Palestine protests."

https://drilled.media/news/gaza-standingrock-tigerswan
#blm #dapl
"An assortment of conservative and far-right politicians started using words like "criminal" and "terrorist" to describe the activists, seeking to spark a debate about the line between activism and extremism."

It's effective:
"It was just so smartly all put together that (the crackdown) just slowly suffocated us and didn't punch us off the street.
So we kind of reached a maximum amount of people that are ready to take that risk upon themselves."

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/dateline/article/christian-and-his-friends-have-taken-direct-action-over-climate-change-theyve-been-labelled-criminals/gwhlipga1
#LastGeneration
"Five members of #LetzteGeneration have been charged with “forming a criminal organisation”, ... under section 129 of the German criminal code. It is believed to be the first time the law has been applied to a non-violent protest group.

“This charge is meant for mafia and organised crime. This charge criminalises every act of support towards the group Letzte Generation. This creates an immense chilling effect on all #climate protests in #Germany.”

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/may/23/alarm-as-german-climate-activists-charged-with-forming-a-criminal-organisation
"#CopCity is the harbinger of a dark future. Since 2020, similar police-training complexes all reflect a similar attitude toward the protests of 2020. In the wake of that summer’s unprecedented challenge to state brutality, the American political class has declined introspection and instead chosen to rearm itself against the citizenry, including pro-Palestinian student protesters who one day might similarly find themselves being accused of conspiracy and worse."

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/atlanta-cop-city-george-floyd-protesters.html
"Conspiracy to cause public nuisance, which the Just Stop Oil five were found guilty of, is a relatively new offence (introduced in 2022) that carries a maximum prison term of ten years. People who feel compelled to take part in disruptive protest due to the existential threat of climate change risk a decade in jail without being able to explain their actions to a jury.

“These are political sentences and climate activists [have] become political prisoners.” "

https://theconversation.com/why-courts-favour-cars-not-the-climate-234535
"Wealthy, democratic countries in the global north are using harsh, vague and punitive measures to crack down on #ClimateProtests at the same time as criticising similar draconian tactics by authorities in the global south, according to a report."

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/sep/10/climate-rights-report-draconian-measures-protest
"#FossilFuel lobbyists coordinated with lawmakers behind the scenes and across state lines to push and shape laws that are escalating a crackdown on peaceful protests against oil and gas expansion.

Records obtained by the Guardian show that lobbyists working for major North American oil and gas companies were key architects of anti-protest laws that increase penalties and could lead to non-violent environmental and #ClimateActivists being imprisoned up to 10 years."

Last Week in Fediverse – ep 94

Keeping up with links shared on your feeds with Sill, a new open protocol with Leaf, and PeerTube is starting to test their mobile app.

The News

Sill is a new app that aggregates the most popular links that are posted in your network. Sill connects to both your Mastodon and Bluesky accounts, and gives a combined overview of all the networks, as well as the option to filter the links. It not only shows you the links, but also shows you what people you follow have posted about these links, and sends you a daily email update. Creator Tyler Fisher describes Sill as an open-source passion project, and says he wants to make it sustainable, and is thus thinking about potential ways to make revenue. Fisher also says that he is ‘committed to always keeping the basic Sill web client free’.

The Leaf Protocol is a newcomer in the space of decentralised protocols, a peer-to-peer federation protocol. The Leaf protocol is working towards what they call an ‘agentic fediverse’. The Leaf Protocol is developed in tandem with the product named Weird, which provides people with a simple homepage on the internet. Underneath this website is Leaf, which provides the possibility of federation with other versions of Weird, as well as other potential products. The team has written here on how Leaf compares to ActivityPub and ATProto, as well as about capabilities and identity to see how it holds up to Christine Lemmer-Webber’s ‘recipe for making the “Correct Fediverse IMO (TM)”‘.

One of PeerTubes main goals for 2024 is to release a mobile app. PeerTube has now started testing the first versions of the app, available for both Android and iOS. They note that the app is still under active development, with some features missing.

Ghost’s latest update on their work on implementing ActivityPub shows that they are working on two different types of readers: an inbox for long-form content, and a feed for short-form.

- Integrate ocaps, which is possible because actor model + ocaps compose
- Content addressed storage!
- Decentralized identity (notice the *y*, I did not say DIDs) on top of ~mutable CAS storage
- Petname system UX

Twitter’s Birdwatch is Fundamentally Flawed

Earlier this week, Twitter announced an initiative to combat misinformation on their platform that they call Birdwatch.

How Birdwatch works: Volunteers sign up (assuming they meet all the requirements) and can add notes to fill in context on misleading tweets. Other users can rate these contextual tweets as helpful or not helpful. All of these “notes” and ratings of notes are completely transparent.

Obrazek/zdjęcieCredit: the Birdwatch website
Obrazek/zdjęcieCredit: the Birdwatch website

At its face, Birdwatch is an attempt to scale up the existing fact-checking capability used during the 2020 U.S. Elections while also crowdsourcing this decision-making.

I will give Twitter credit for two things, and only two things, before I get into the problems with their design.
  • They’re distributing the power to fact-check bad tweets to their users rather than hoarding it for themselves.
  • They correctly emphasized transparency as a goal for this tool.
But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.

The Fatal Flaw of Birdwatch’s Design

There’s an old essay titled The Six Dumbest Ideas in Computer Security, that immediately identifies two problems with Birdwatch’s design. They also happen to be the first two items on the essay’s list!
  • Default Permit
  • Enumerating Badness
This is best illustrated by way of example.

Let’s assume there are two pathological liars hellbent on spreading misinformation on Twitter. They each tweet unsubstantiated claims about some facet of government or civil service. Birdwatch users catch only one of them, and correctly fact-check their tweet.

What happens to the other liar?

What happens if Birdwatch users can only identify one out of ten liars? One out of a hundred? One out of a thousand?! Et cetera.

2866407(Art by Khia.)

To be clear: The biggest flaw in their product design is simply that their “notes” and “fact-checks” are negative indicators on known-bad tweets.

This will create a dark pattern: If a tweet slips past the Birdwatch users’ radars, it won’t be fact-checked. In turn, users won’t realize it’s misinformation. A popular term for the resulting conduct is coordinated inauthentic behavior.

This already happens to YouTube.

https://youtu.be/1PGm8LslEb4

Hell, this is already happening to Twitter:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-1RhQ1uuQ4

How To Fix Birdwatch

I wrote an entire essay on Defeating Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior at Scale in 2019. I highly recommend anyone at Twitter interested in actually solving the misinformation problem to give that a careful consideration.

Soatok Explains it All(Art by Swizz.)

But in a nutshell, the most important fix is to change the state machine underlying Birdwatch from:
  • No notes -> trustworthy
  • Notes -> misinformation
…to something subtly different:
  • No notes -> unvetted / be cautious
  • Notes ->
    • Negative notes -> misinformation
    • Positive notes -> verified by experts
This effectively creates a traffic light signal for users: Tweets start as yellow (exercise caution, which is the default) and may become green (affirmed by notes) or red (experts disagree).

What Would This Change Accomplish?

Malicious actors that accomplish Birdwatch evasion will only manage to encompass their message in caution tape. (Metaphorically speaking, anyway.)

If their goal is to spread misinformation while convincing the recipients of their message that they’re speaking the truth, they’ll have to get a green light–which is ideally more expensive to accomplish.

Bonus Round

I would also recommend some kind of “this smells fishy” button to signal Birdwatch contributors that this tweet needs fact-checking. Users might self-select into filter bubbles that Birdwatch users are totally absent from, and in turn come across things that are completely unvetted and possibly ambiguous.

While I have your attention, here’s a quality of life suggestion, on the house:

Being able to link claims together (e.g. reposted images with a false claim, n.b. like how the minions memes on Facebook) to deduplicate their claims about reality would save a lot of unnecessary headache.

(Anyone who has used Stack Overflow will appreciate the utility of being able to say “this is a duplicate of $otherThing”.)

What If These Fundamental Flaws Remain Unfixed?

Although Birdwatch will probably meet the immediate goal of scaling up the fact-checking efforts beyond what Twitter can provide (and satisfy the public relations requirements of tangibly doing something to combat this problem), propagandists and conspiracy theorists will simply become incentivized to evade Birdwatch contributors’ detection while spreading their lies.

As I said above, coordinated inauthentic behavior is already happening. This isn’t some abstract threat that only academics care about.

To the aid of the malicious, most users will confuse tweets that evaded detection with tweets that didn’t warrant correction. This might even lead to users trusting misinformation more than they would before Birdwatch. This would be a total self-own for the entire Birdwatch project.

Ruszyła kolejna fala migracji z X/Twittera, więc dziś w #OkoPress przyglądam się alternatywom:
https://oko.press/ucieczka-z-twittera-przyszlosc-mediow-spolecznosciowych

@Michał "rysiek" Woźniak · 🇺🇦 @blaine @Ben Werdmuller @Christine Lemmer-Webber

Dziś możemy mieć dyskusję w mediach o niuansach w stylu Telegramowego "encryption-washingu", i ludzie czytają i kumają.

Bardzo wierzyłyśmy w ustawę o dekryminalizacji aborcji w jej pierwszym kształcie, jednak po drodze wprowadzono do niej zmiany sprzeczne z nauką, licznymi rekomendacjami organizacji eksperckich takich WHO czy FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics).

Podczas najbliższego posiedzenia Sejmu, ustawa o częściowej dekryminalizacji aborcji będzie ponownie czytana i głosowana, by ponownie wrócić do komisji sejmowej.

Dalej niemożliwe będzie zapewnienie osobom potrzebującym aborcji prywatności i poczucia bezpieczeństwa, swobody w poszukiwaniu informacji i wsparcia w aborcji bez strachu przed prawnymi reperkusjami.

Bardzo wierzyłyśmy w ustawę o dekryminalizacji aborcji w jej pierwszym kształcie, jednak po drodze wprowadzono do niej zmiany sprzeczne z nauką, licznymi rekomendacjami organizacji eksperckich takich WHO czy FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics). A little break from my recent Scotland photography run.

With the recent trend of murky, overcast and windless conditions here, we enjoyed a stroll around the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail in Clapham, to capture the last of this year's autumn colours. 👍

#landscape #landscapephotography #nature #travel #yorkshiredales #northyorkshire #yorkshire #uk #britain #england #autumn #fall
A peaceful autumn woodland path through the Ingleborough Estate shows walkers strolling beneath a natural canopy of beech trees, their leaves displaying brilliant shades of amber and gold. The well-maintained gravel path, carpeted with fallen leaves, stretches into the misty distance whilst tall, grey-barked trees stand sentinel on either side, creating a tranquil tunnel effect that frames both the lone walker in the foreground and the small group of ramblers ahead. A moss-covered stone bridge with curved walls leads to traditional Yorkshire stone cottages in the village of Clapham, whilst two walkers pause on the path ahead. The narrow footbridge, dusted with autumn leaves, curves gently upward between weathered walls topped with verdant moss, creating a charming scene typical of Yorkshire Dales architecture, with the grey-stone houses and their distinctive sash windows providing a quintessentially British backdrop.
A stone footpath strewn with autumn leaves winds its way through verdant woodland towards a dramatic waterfall, which cascades through an ancient stone arch bridge in the Yorkshire Dales. The stepped path, bordered by a wooden handrail and lush vegetation, leads viewers' eyes naturally to the tumbling white waters of Clapham Beck as it flows through multiple tiers beneath the weathered stonework, whilst the surrounding trees display the golden hues of autumn. A dreamy woodland scene captures the essence of autumn in the Yorkshire Dales, where Japanese maples display vibrant coral-red leaves amongst the yellowing foliage of native trees. The misty atmosphere softens the forest's depths, whilst the rough-barked trunk of a silver birch stands prominently in the foreground, creating a striking contrast with the ethereal blend of emerald, amber and crimson leaves that dance throughout the composition.

Last Week in Fediverse – ep 91

Loops has finally launched, Radio Free Fedi will shut down, and governance for Bridgy Fed.

The News

Loops.video, the short-form video platform has finally launched, after weeks of delays. There is now an iOS app on TestFlight available, as well as an Android APK, and it there is no waitlist anymore. In some statistics shared by Loops developed Daniel Supernault, Loops now has more than 8000 people signed up and close to a 1000 videos posted. The app has the bare minimum of features, with only one feed that seems to be algorithmic, and there is no following feed. Supernault says that he is currently working on adding discovery features as well as notifications to the app. The app currently loads videos smoothly and quickly, and Supernault has already had to upgrade the server to deal with traffic. Loops is currently not federating with the rest of the fediverse, and you cannot interact with Loops from another fediverse account. This feature is planned, but there is no estimation when this will happen. Third party clients are already possible with Loops, and one is already available.

Radio Free Fedi has announced that it will shut down in January 2025. Radio Free Fedi is a radio station and community that broadcasts music by people on the fediverse. The project has grown from a simple stream into multiple non-stop radio streams, a specialty channel and a channel for spoken word, and build up a catalogue of over 400 artists who’s art are broadcast on the radio. Running a project requires a large amount of work, and was largely done by one person. They say that this is not sustainable anymore, and that the way that the project is structured make handing the project over to someone else not an option. Radio Free Fedi has been a big part of the artist’s community on the fediverse, which has contributed to a culture of celebrating independent art, and the sunset of Radio Free Fedi is a loss for fediverse culture.

In an update on Bridgy Fed, the software that allows bridging between different protocols, creator Ryan Barrett talks about possible futures for Bridgy Fed. Barrett says that Bridgy Fed is currently a side project for him, but people make requests for Bridgy Fed to become bigger, and become ‘core infrastructure of the social web’. Barrett is open to that possibility, but not while the project is his personal side project, and is open for conversations to house the project in a larger organisation, and with someone with experience to lead the project.

The Social Web Foundation will organise a Devroom at FOSDEM. FOSDEM is a yearly conference in Brussels for free and open source software, and will be on February 1-2, 2025. The Social Web Foundation is inviting people and projects to give talks about ActivityPub, in the format of either a talk of 25 minutes for bigger projects, or a lightning talk of 8 minutes.

OpenVibe is a client for Mastodon, Bluesky and Nostr, and has now added support for cross-posting to Threads as well. OpenVibe also offers the ability to have a combined feed, that shows posts from your accounts on all the different networks into a single feed, which now can include your Threads account, as well as your Mastodon, Nostr and Bluesky accounts.

The shutdown of the botsin.space server lead to some new experiments with bots on the fediverse:

Jakie instytucje publiczne zajmują się ochroną praw podstawowych w Polsce?

RPO, co nie?

A jednak Rzecznika Praw *Obywatelskich* nie ma na liście instytucji zgłoszonych do Komisji Europejskiej w myśl art. 77 #AIAct

Wpis umożliwiłby RPO dostęp do dokumentacji systemów sztucznej inteligencji potencjalnie naruszającej prawa człowieka.

Oczekujemy:
1. wyjaśnienia tej sytuacji przez Min. Cyfryzacji i #RPO

Dzień dobry, wyjaśniamy: wystąpiliśmy do RPO o potwierdzenie właściwości. RPO uznaje brak właściwości w odniesieniu do wykorzystywania systemów AI wysokiego ryzyka przez podmioty prywatne. W przypadku podmiotów publicznych - RPO sygnalizuje brak odpowiednich zasobów. Stąd nie znalazł się na liście.
